Dr. Dustin Kruse and Dr. Jaacob Struffert see patients Monday through Friday at Clay Center Family Dental Care on Liberty St. With two full-time dentists, there is usually room to get you in the same day for a toothache or swelling, and to actually treat it that day. Implants planned on 3D CBCT scans, Invisalign, laser dentistry, nitrous oxide, and a $33-a-month VIP plan if you don't have insurance.
Clay Center Family Dental Care is a preferred PPO provider with Delta Dental and Blue Cross Blue Shield and accepts a wide range of other plans. We file your claim after your visit so there's one less step. No insurance? The VIP Membership Plan starts at $33 a month.
Our in-house membership plan is a straightforward alternative to insurance. $33/month covers your exams, cleanings, and X-rays, plus 20% off every other treatment. No deductibles, no yearly maximums, no waiting period. Periodontal patients: ask about the VIP Perio Plan at $48/month.
Dr. Kruse says the practice's edge is diagnosis and education with the patient holding the decision: digital X-rays that catch decay earlier, a 3D cone beam CT for implants and tricky root canals, a digital intraoral scanner instead of goopy impressions, and intraoral photos so you can see why a tooth needs a crown instead of a filling. No pressure, no judgment.
Swelling or infection is seen the same day, and most toothaches are too. We take X-rays, find the cause, lay out the options, and treat it that day when we can.

Dr. Kruse was born and raised in Kansas, went to Kansas State for his undergraduate degree, and earned his DDS at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, then moved back to the Clay Center area to be close to family. He chose general dentistry because he enjoyed every rotation, from oral surgery to endodontics, has completed implant training with Implant Pathway, and is specially trained in laser techniques. He lives with his wife and daughters and keeps two dogs, two cats, and about 13 chickens.
Dr. Struffert, a Reno native and graduate of the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, joined the practice in 2026 and brought it to two full-time doctors. His favorite part of the job is getting someone out of pain, and he carries a line from a dental school mentor into every visit: you're not treating a tooth, you're treating a person who has a problem with a tooth.

No. We scan crowns digitally with an intraoral scanner, so no impression trays, and a dental lab makes the final crown. You'll have a comfortable temporary in the meantime.
